Serious New Distraction

Actually there are quite a few new distractions in my life right now.  There is of course Lucy.  Such a precious little one. In addition I have signed up for an on line watercolor class, which I am enjoying immensely.  My second little painting, only 5” x 7” is shown above.  The class is being taught by quilt artist Jane LaFazio on Joggles.com.  So far, so good.

I am also following Linda Kemshall’s program on Design Matters TV where she is demonstrating techniques to create beautiful altered books.  I got hooked on making altered books when I took a class at Mill Valley’s lovely craft store,  Once Around, with the artist Virginia.  I currently have four different books going, each with a different theme.

There has also been a lot of sewing going on.  Two of my quilting UFO’s will soon be moved from a “Work in Progress” page to a completed quilt page.  In the case of the two I am working on they are both gifts so look for them very soon on the “Quilts as Gifts” page.

Lastly I have been preparing to give a talk to my local quilt guild.  I’ll be sharing ideas on how to get the most out of workshops and classes in the quilting world.  With many years of experience both as a teacher and a student this should be easy for me, but I’m still a bit nervous.  Wish me luck!
