Five Days at Bishops Ranch

Time spent at Bishops Ranch in Healdsburg, CA is alway a lot of fun and also very productive.  The weather was perfect with clear skies and plenty of sunshine.  About 4o ladies were in attendance working on all kinds of projects. My hope was to get through a few UFO’s such as the  Eichler Quilt.  I did get a lot done but but still didn’t finish anything.  I’ll just keep plugging away.  I did take the opportunity to do two on location watercolors, one pictured above.  While I was painting the Red Hot Poker I also delighted in the huge number of hummingbirds partaking in the nectar of the blossom.

After retuning home from the Ranch,   I came to the realization that I do not need to finish all my UFOs.  Some are simply not worth the effort.  One in particular to not at all interesting and too small for a baby or lap quilt.  It shall simply become a piece I will practice my quilting on.

Now I’m preparing to attend a five day class at Emtpy Spools with Velda Newman.  I am hoping my new watercolor confidence will translate in to painting on fabric and creating a semi large scale flower.   I’ll post an update upon my return home.
